My Darling

March 7, 2011

My Darling

My Darling,

I will never forget

The day that we met.

Skies grey, winter’s last wonton wetness

Palpable on skin, whilst the Majestic Mountains,

Shrouded, a demure mist covering their naked peaks -

Watched.

I entered you slowly,  with a whisper, a touch,

And coaxed you to Life, and warmth, and clutched

As, inhibitions gone, cares cast aside

We rode, and we rode, and we rode ourselves wild.

Our futures entwined, to the future we look,

My Mistress, my Darling, my little… K-truck.

Yes, it’s a silly fluff piece, I know, and non-natives of Japan might not get the joke, but I’m grinning from ear to ear nevertheless. I’ll write a serious piece on K-trucks and their role in Japanese society at a later date, but for now, just a few details:

  • Make: Suzuki (Carry)
  • Clock: 56,000kms
  • Max load: 350 kilos
  • Price: 30,000 yen (300 American, 150 English, score! of the century)

Hot Wheels

Peep Peep!

Whoa!! That is awesome! I can’t believe you got that deal! I’ll be keeping my eye open for a handsome British man driving around H***, in a tiny tiny truck :D

Oversized Englishman in an undersized truck? That’ll be me. Have you ever ridden in one, Steff? It’s human origami just to get in. Come by one of these days, we’ll take her for a spin;)

    Cheers,

    T

You’ll have more chuckles when you see me driving it, CarrIE – they’re not designed with giant gaijin in mind ;)

Right on! How are chiropractors in H*** anyways? To (tardily) answer your question, the bird you heard was correct in terms of me wanting to be there, but in reality I will not be able to make it.

It’s a ‘truck’ to be proud of!
